Job Title:  CNC Programmer-Operator 
Reports to: Operations Lead
Summary of duties and responsibilities: To perform in a pleasant, professional, and efficient manner the processes involved with the CNC operating of equipment and mechanical cutting of dies and trimming of products specifically to the Hurco Machine.  Adhere to company goals and values by performing duties in a manner that is consistent with being a team player and supports the continued growth of the company.
  1. Effectively set up and operate the horizontal mills, wire EDM and CNC Lathe, ensuring it is run optimally and to full utilization.
  2. Create cut files from 2D DXF’s using programming software.  Edit cut files as needed at the machines.
  3. Develop fixturing and clamping devices as needed to optimize efficiency.  
  4. Responsible for developing and maintaining standard operating procedures on the CNC machine.
  5. Proactively manage, maintain, and perform maintenance on the CNC machine.
  6. Use critical thinking and creativity to identify and implement methods and processes to cut waste and increase cost savings.
  7. Serve as the internal and external point of contact for the company and machine manufacturer, as it relates to the CNC machine.
  8. Effectively communicate and work with the Die Engraving Department on the daily schedule, prioritization, assigning of the jobs to the particular machine(s).
  9. Maintain records of finished dies and any changes made during or after the cutting and communicate with the Die Engraving Department on those records, striving for process improvement.
  10. Use critical thinking to identify and trouble shoot problems and work towards a solution in a timely manner.
  11. Embrace and work cross functionally, specifically assist on other CNC machines and in Engraving.
  12. Keep work area and equipment clean and organized. 
  13. Must adhere to all safety rules and regulations.
Other duties as assigned by management.
Education, prior work experience and specialized skills:  Associate degree in a related field strongly desired, with three to five years CNC experience, and a strong mechanical background. Experience with DXF files preferred.   An attention to quality, detail, and an appreciation of deadlines is essential.  Strong communication skills are imperative.
Physical environment/working conditions:  This position is in a manufacturing environment. Must be able to lift/push/pull objects that are 50 lbsfrequently throughout the day, stand for long periods of time, as well as physically quickly move throughout the department and to other departments. Specific personal protective equipment must be wornear plugs, safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, etc.
Equipment/Machinery Used:  All machines and tools necessary to perform the position.  Including, but not limited to; machines, computers, dies, hand tools, etc.
