Staffworks Group is Now Hiring for a Food Safety Specialist! This is a Direct Hire Position!! Pay is up to $75,000 based on experience!!

Job Description:

The Food Safety Specialist is responsible for coordinating and implementing all procedures, policies, and programs related to BRC (GFSI), HACCP. In addition, the position will handle regulatory requirements, customers’ needs related to food safety and quality, third-party audits, and regulatory audits. The Specialist reports to the QA Manager and is an integral member of the overall plant operation in Tampa, Florida.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in managing and administering the company’s BRC Issue 9 program, and the related HACCP program, while ensuing compliance with GMPs.

• Manage product testing with 3rd party labs.

• For any customer complaints/claims- coordinate the internal investigation with our production facility managers, as well as the identification of corrective actions, root cause, and crafting the response for the customer.

• Manage our library of technical documents (technical data sheets, SDS, product label templates).

• Complete customer documentation requests related to food safety.

• Be the back up to the quality and food safety manager.

• Coordinate the shipment of sample requests for customers.

• Review and enhance our current document management processes to ensure best practices are being utilized.

• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Skills:

• Working knowledge of BRC, SQF or other GSFI certification

• Excellent verbal communication skills

• Excellent organizational skills

• Ability to lift at least 25 pounds

• Ability to climb stairs/ladders to inspect equipment

Education:

• Degree in Food Science, Food Chemistry, or related field

• Work experience or training (new grads welcome to apply!)

• Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control

• Ability to match or detect differences between colors

• Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and HAACP

Working Conditions:

• May be required to work for short periods in -10-degree temperature

• Processing environment can we wet and loud, and requiring hearing protection

• Typically work 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM or 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM, but your work schedule largely follows the processing and packaging day.
