Brake and Shear Operator 
$21 – 23/hour, depending on experience
6:00am – 230pm Monday – Friday, some Saturdays for overtime
 
Staffworks Group currently has a full-time direct hire opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Brake and Shear Operator at a Structural Steel Fabricator located on Cleveland’s Near West Side. This position will be working with commercial and residential steel and aluminum structures, fabricating for appearance.
 
The Mechanical Brake and Shear Operator has 2 titles for one position – this person will perform both. 
You will operate Mechanical Brake to bend plate up to 3/8” and operate 1 of 3 plate shears to cut Light to Heavy gauge metal 1/8” to 1" thick. This is not a CNC position.
 
Requirements:
  • Metal fabrication experience required
  • Must have experience operating both Mechanical Brakes and Plate Shears
  • Must be able to cut 1/8 to 1" thick on Plate Shear
  • Must be able to bend plate up to 3/8" on Mechanical Brake 
  • Experience with Light to Heavy gauge steel
  • Knowledge of older equipment is good but not necessary 
  • Ability to lift 50lbs
  • High school diploma or equivalent (ie: GED, Trade School etc.)
