Job Description
Printing Press Assistant
Position Summary
Assist in completing all machine changeover/setup processes in a safe manner to minimize machine downtime and meeting or exceeding set up standard requirements.
Essential Job Functions
· Safely assist operator on assigned machine on a variety of tasks
- Narrow/wide web, water base/solvent inks, multiple substrates as applicable
- Monitor quality, production, and waste, adjusting to customer specifications/demands
- Assist printing jobs of 1-10 color surface and reverse print as needed
- Assist operator with production issues; safety, quality, shortage of raw materials, inventory
- Set up for cylinders, plates, sleeves and anilox rolls
· Check inks and viscosity, open stock, cut cores for all assigned jobs
· Shaft new rolls of paper on each shift
- Splice new rolls to existing web and thread machine when necessary
· Maintain a clean, organized, “set in order” and “shine” environment in the work areas
· Clean hoses, drip pans decks and related equipment during changeovers
· Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
· High school graduate or equivalent
· Experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably flexographic printing preferred
· Mechanical aptitude and experience using basic tools including wrenches, hammers, screwdrivers, utility knives, and measuring devices
· Forklift and clamp truck experience preferred
· Basic computer skills including email, data entry, operating within multiple systems
· Ability to work a flexible schedule based on needs of the business including overtime hours
· Must be a reliable employee with good attendance and be able to communicate effectively, work both independently and as part of a team, follow instructions and be willing to cross-train on different machines
ADA Requirements
- Must be able to stand for an entire 12-hour shift, including frequent walking and frequent use of motor skills
- Occasional pushing/pulling up to 60lbs
- Occasional kneeling, bending, squatting, crouching, stair climbing, reaching over shoulders
- Must be able to occasionally team lift from 70-140 lbs.
- Color vision required to find mistakes and match to customer specifications
- Regular exposure to various temperatures and paper dust. Noise levels exceed 90dB regularly
Shift Available:
- Nights (6pm-6am)
- 2-2-3 Schedule
- First week: Monday -- Tuesday -- Friday -- Saturday
- Second Week: Sunday -- Wednesday -- Thursday
